Tom and Jerry
I remember watching Tom and Jerry as a kid and loving their craziness! I thought it was so funny when my kids started watching them. It brought back such great memories. So I was thrilled when I had a Tom and Jerry themed order! But, although they are loved in my house it was not a popular theme at the party store. So I looked up some images and went with a few of my favorites. I took the red, orange, yellow color from my top choice for the frosting. The cupcakes were a carrot cake and the frosting was cream cheese. They turned out great and Alice loved them despite being sick on her birthday! Poor thing!! Her mom said she was a trooper though and was still eating the cupcakes a week later!!

X-MEN
For Xavier's 7th birthday he was doing an W-Men theme. Hmmm, what to do? I had talk to his mommy about putting an X on top but I wanted to add a little more for him. So I did a bi-color frosting with black sprinkles and made him some toppers to go with his theme. The X's that I did put on were made of chocolate! Fun times

Red Hat Lady
For those Fabulous "Red Hatters" perhaps cupcakes to take to Bunco, tea, or heck out to live it up! I would suggest a red velvet cupcake of course, with purple vanilla frosting....
Here is the poem by Jenny Joseph for those of you that are not familiar with it. It goes a little like this:
Warning
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up
for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain And pick flowers in other people's gardens And learn to spit. You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat And eat three pounds of sausages at a go Or only bread and pickle for a week And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes. But now we must have clothes that keep us dry And pay our rent and not swear in the street And set a good example for the children. We must have friends to dinner and read the papers. But maybe I ought to practice a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up

A Party over here, A Party over there!
I love, love, love these sprinkles and cupcake toppers! I love polka dots in general so when I saw these they were a hands down choice! Pair them with any cupcake flavor and frosting and you are set! Perhaps I could suggest a lemon with a lemon frosting and then you could be having a party in you mouth as well!!

Monkey's Make Me SMILE
My very good buddy Eli had a birthday and what else could his cupcake be but monkeys? Eli LOVES monkeys and has quite a collection and so there was no other option. His request for banana cupcakes with cinnamon-cream cheese frosting even fit perfectly into the theme. My monkey cupcakes took some time to make, with all those monkey parts (luckily my friend Janai did come to the rescue) but when all was done there were adorable! Happy Birthday monkey buddy....

It's a girl!
I was able to do one of my very good friend, Miriam's, baby shower cupcakes to celebrate the arrival of her little girl. I did a variety of flavors and decorations for this one! It was a staff party and we all had such a great time seeing all of the cute girl stuff that Baby E was getting! It's hard to remember when my kiddos were that little...
Lemon cupcakes with lemon frosting shaped like a rattle

Vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting and Purple flowers with an edible pearl
Chocolate cupcakes with pink vanilla frosting, pink sprinkles and a little pacifier on top
Everything put together!

National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I made up some mini Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting (purple the color for Domestic Violence) for a function that Nancy was hosting in honor of this cause. Thank you for helping make people aware of this terrible violence that is happening to people.

Sweet 16
For Becca's sweet 16 birthday her mom ordered her chocolate cupcakes with a vanilla buttercream frosting. Her colors were pink, black and white. These are some of my very favorite colors and so I had so much fun making these. My daughter wanted to keep them for herself! Some of these cupcakes had regular pink or black sprinkles, and some were topped with pink rock candy. Others had tiny little heart sprinkles.

Polka Dot Party
These adorable Polka Dot Cupcakes were for Gracie's 1st birthday party. They were vanilla with vanilla buttercream frosting and vanilla with Chocolate Buttercream frosting. Her colors were pink, brown, green and white. I had a great time making the cupcake toppers too. On one side they said Gracie and on the other side was a 1!
Thanks Ruth for letting me be a special part in Gracies's big day.

FORE!!!!
I delivered some golf cupcakes for 8 year old Bryson today. They were Chocolate Cupcakes with a Vanilla Buttercream Frosting. The golf ball was made out of white chocolate. And Bryson's cupcake had a blue flag(his favorite color) with his name on the front and the #8 on the back for his age!! And of course, it was the biggest one!
So it begins....
My name is Lauri. I am a "stay at home mom", who doesn't really stay at home at all. My 2 children, Makayla and Dylan, and my husband Tom are the loves of my lives. Everything I do is centered around their activities. Dylan started preschool this year and with this coming up I started thinking about what I want to be when I grow up. Hmmmm, tough question when you are 30, have 2 children that you still need to raise, and really have no clue. I have always loved making cupcakes. I love how pretty they can be. Truthfully I usually made them out of a box and then decorated them with a few sprinkles. But I always admired the REALLY pretty ones. So I started experimenting, and after a few batches in the garbage, started learning what it takes to make a good cupcake. A good base and a good top....simple? Not so much. I love to make up a new recipe and take it to my very willing taste testers and get their opinion. I have a great mix of people. I am a frosting girl myself so I was surprised at how many people loved the cake part more. I even have one friend that could do without frosting at all! So a good moist (that is my BFF favorite word BTW) cake and a super yummy frosting, not too sweet, but just right....After much prompting by friends I decided to try my skills at running my own cupcake business. I came up For the Love of Cupcakes and have had so much fun helping people. So here are my baking and decorating adventures of those experiments and my wonderful clientele that helps me be able to "figure out what I want to be when I grow up"!
